Unfortunately over the last week the squad learned of the departures of stalwarts Jack Foulkes and Carl Williams. Jack has decided to drop down the levels to his home club Wattstown RFC. This comes during a time where he juggles the strains of work / life balance with his young growing family. Everyone at the club would like to thank Jack for his contribution to Ystrad over the past 5 seasons where he has racked up 96 appearances and was a key part of the promotion winning season and our early years in The Championship. Hopefully it's not the last time we see him in blue.
Another player to leave is the hugely popular Carl Williams, who has opted to see out the season with Porth Harlequins. Having come out of Ystrad youth, Carl has been an ever present in our sides, representing both 1st and 2nd teams. He's a player who's hugely liked and respected by all within the club. Carl was the hooker that led the club to promotion to the championship and has had a tremendous 12 year career in arguably the clubs most successful period. A member of the '200 appearance club' we're thankful for the service he has given us and we hope that once his stint away is finished we will see him return to lead the club in other roles in future.
We wish both Jack, Carl and their families best wishes now and in future. A warm welcome 'home' is assured!
